How to connect Claude to Canva and edit designs automatically.

Paste a link, give it your brand, and Claude rewrites every slide — no clicking around.

If you've ever spent an hour tweaking text in Canva — rewriting headlines, adjusting copy to fit a template, making sure every slide sounds like you — this is for you.

Claude connects directly to Canva. You paste a link, give it your content and brand guide, and it edits the design for you. No clicking around. No manually retyping everything. You just talk to it.

Here's the exact workflow I use every week.

What you need before you start

  • A Claude account (claude.ai — free tier works)
  • A Canva account with an editable design
  • Your brand guide, or at least a rough description of your colors, tone, and fonts
  • The content you want on the design (your hook, your copy, your message)

That's it. No plugins. No integrations to set up. Claude handles the connection natively.

Step 1 — Brainstorm your content with Claude first

Before you touch Canva, get your message clear. Tell Claude what the piece is about — is it a carousel? A reel cover? A story? Who is it for? What's the hook?

This step saves you from redesigning the same slide three times because you changed your mind about the copy halfway through.

✦ Prompt — copy & paste
I'm creating an Instagram carousel for creative freelancers — dancers, makeup artists, handmade makers. The topic is: 10 digital products they can build from their skill using AI. Help me write the slide headlines.

Claude gives you the copy. You move on.

Step 2 — Pick your Canva template

Go to Canva. Browse templates and pick one that fits the vibe. Don't overthink this step — the design is not the hard part anymore.

Pick something that:

  • Has the right format (carousel, story, cover)
  • Feels close to your aesthetic
  • Has enough text blocks to hold your content

Open it in edit mode and copy the URL from your browser.

Step 3 — Paste the Canva link into Claude

Come back to Claude. Paste the Canva link and ask it to assess the template.

✦ Prompt — copy & paste
Here's my Canva template: [paste link]. I want to turn this into a carousel about [your topic]. Please assess the layout and update all the text with the content we just wrote. Follow my brand guide: warm tone, clean language, speak directly to creative women.

Claude reads the template, understands the structure, and rewrites the content to fit.

Step 4 — Add your brand guide

If you have a brand guide — paste it in. Claude will follow your colors, your tone, your font preferences, your style rules.

If you don't have a formal brand guide yet, just describe it:

My brand is warm, not corporate. I use oat, ink, and pink as my main colors. I speak casually, like a smart older sister. Never use hustle language.

Claude applies that to every edit it makes.

Step 5 — Swap in your photos or videos

This is the only step you do yourself. Once Claude has updated all the text and structure, you drag in your own photo or video. That's it. The copy is done. The layout is done. The brand is applied. You just add your face.

Why this workflow beats doing it manually

The old way: open template → retype every slide → adjust spacing → check brand → repeat for every piece of content. 45 minutes minimum.

The new way: brainstorm with Claude → pick template → paste link → Claude edits → swap photo → done. Under 10 minutes.

And here's the part that changes everything: you reuse the same template every time. The more familiar Claude gets with your template and brand, the faster and more accurate the output. It compounds.

What else you can use this for

This isn't just for carousels. The same workflow works for:

  • Reel covers — update your cover text for every new video without touching Canva manually
  • YouTube thumbnails — swap headline copy in seconds
  • Instagram Stories — batch-update story templates for a whole week
  • Pinterest pins — same design, new copy, done
  • Anything with a template — if it lives in Canva, Claude can edit it

Start here

If you want to try this today, start with one template you already use. Paste the link into Claude, describe your brand, and ask it to rewrite the text for your next piece of content.

You'll never go back to doing it manually.
